Monopolies seem to breed corruption of corporations. When one entity owns the whole market, they are able to control the prices, supply, and quality of the product.
Competition is a benefit to both businesses who are able to gain a share of the market and consumers who receive better products due to companies competing for the top spot.
Monopolies are only a problem when they are created or protected by a government bent on preventing competitors from threatening the monopoly. However, if a monopoly arises simply because consumers prefer their products to those of the competitors, then there is no reason for the government to protect the unproductive competitors.
Just like the behemoth of a government monster, complexity in controlling a large monopoly eventually leads to its own doing. Either through innovation, or cost of doing business. Allow market forces to flow freely. NO more government control and regulation is needed.
